Feeding · FAQ

Your feeding questions, answered

The questions dog parents ask us most.

+How much should I feed my dog?
Feed your dog a daily amount based on their weight, life stage, and activity level. Use the calculator above for your exact Get Joy serving, then split it across two meals and adjust over a couple of weeks to keep your dog at a healthy weight.
+How do I transition my dog to Get Joy?
Switch gradually over 7–10 days. Start with about ¼ Get Joy mixed into their current food, then increase the Get Joy portion every few days until you're feeding 100%. A slow transition lets the gut adjust and keeps stools firm.
+How many times a day should I feed my dog?
Most adult dogs do best with two meals a day — simply divide the daily amount in half. Puppies often need three to four smaller meals to support steady growth.
+Can I use Get Joy as a topper instead of a full meal?
Yes. Use the Full / 75% / 50% / 25% toggle on your result to get the right topper amount. Adding Get Joy on top of your dog's current food is a great way to boost nutrition and introduce gut-healthy ingredients.
+How do I store Get Joy Fresh Frozen Meals?
Keep them frozen until you're ready to use them. Once thawed, Fresh Frozen Meals stay fresh for up to three days in the refrigerator.
+How do I prepare Freeze-Dried Raw?
Freeze-Dried Raw is shelf-stable and easy to serve. Add warm water to each serving and let it rehydrate for 3–5 minutes before feeding, or serve dry with plenty of fresh water available.
+How much should I feed a puppy?
Puppies need more calories per pound than adults to fuel growth, so use the "Puppy" option under Fine-tune and feed three to four smaller meals a day. Because puppy needs change quickly, weigh your pup regularly and check growth with your vet.
+Will my dog's poop change on Get Joy?
Often, yes — for the better. Because Get Joy is highly digestible and includes Belly Biotics™, many dogs produce smaller, firmer stools within a couple of weeks. Loose stool during the switch usually means you're transitioning too fast; slow it down.
+Is Get Joy complete and balanced?
Yes. Get Joy recipes are formulated to meet AAFCO nutrient profiles for All Life Stages, so they provide complete, balanced nutrition for puppies through seniors.
+How long will a bag or pack last?
It depends on your dog's daily serving. Once you have your daily amount from the calculator, divide the pack or bag size by that number to estimate how many days it will last.
