Inside Every Bowl
What's inside the bowl
The Difference
Functional nutrition, gently cooked in
Fresh Meals are kettle-cooked, not sous-vide — each ingredient cooked separately to its ideal temperature, then combined. That protects texture and nutrients and reaches ~95% gelatinization for easy digestion. Then we build in real functional ingredients: a prebiotic fiber, a postbiotic, and salmon-oil omega-3.
Built into every recipe: inulin (prebiotic), yeast-culture postbiotic, salmon-oil omega-3 (DHA & EPA), and turmeric. Looking for live probiotics? Belly Biotics™ is built into our Freeze-Dried Raw Meals.

Prebiotic Fiber
Inulin feeds the good bacteria already living in your dog's gut.

Postbiotic
Yeast-culture postbiotics support the gut wall and immune balance.

Omega-3
Salmon-oil DHA & EPA for skin, coat, joints, and brain.
What's already in every bowl
Your supplement cabinet, built into one bowl.
Get Joy is designed around gut health — the foundation of whole-body wellness — so one daily bowl supports the needs many owners chase with a shelf full of separate products.
One bowl, built to support it all. Joy starts from within.
Get Joy is a complete food designed to support everyday wellness through gut health. It is not a medicine and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease; it is not a substitute for veterinary care or prescribed supplements. Talk to your vet about your dog's specific needs.
The real cost of your dog's health
Your dog needs a lot. One bowl can support it all.
Many dog parents end up buying probiotics, oils, and supplements separately. Because gut health is the foundation of whole-body health, Get Joy is built to support those needs from one daily bowl.
Every category. One bowl. Better for them, never a bummer for you.
Supplement prices reflect average retail cost of leading branded products at standard dosages (Amazon, Chewy, brand-direct). Get Joy subscription reflects average recurring subscriber order value. Individual prices and needs vary; not intended as medical or treatment claims.
Our Method — Get Joy vs. Typical Fresh
Real food, cooked the way it should be
We kettle-cook whole-food ingredients separately, low-and-slow at safe temperatures — enough to make nutrients highly digestible and kill pathogens, without the high-heat extrusion of kibble or the sealed-bag sous-vide method that turns food into a paste.
Extruded at high heat
Cooked at 200°F+ under pressure. High heat strips natural nutrients, so synthetic vitamins are sprayed back on afterward.
Cooked in a sealed bag
Many fresh brands cook everything together in a sealed plastic bag, which can turn food mushy or paste-like.
Kettle-cooked, low-and-slow
Each ingredient is kettle-cooked separately to its ideal temperature — and we skim the fat — then combined. 100% USDA-sourced proteins, ~95% gelatinization: highly digestible, lean, and seriously tasty.

“I started Get Joy because my own dogs deserved better than the tradeoffs every other food forced on me. So we built real, gut-first nutrition you can feel good about — and that fits real life. Better for them should never be a bummer for you.”

FAQs
Have a Question?
Is Fresh right for my dog? How do portions work? We're always around to lend a helping paw.
Every meal is hand-crafted and gently cooked. We cook weekly and keep only a few weeks of inventory in our freezers, so you're receiving really fresh product for your dog's enjoyment.
We have “Good Food for Dogs” on our labels for a reason — no junk, no additives, no fillers, nothing but goodness.
No. Get Joy's gently cooked fresh meals are fully cooked and ready to serve.
The ingredients are gently cooked during preparation to preserve nutrients while ensuring the food is safe and digestible — so there's no additional cooking required at home. Simply store the meals in the refrigerator, portion the recommended amount, and serve.
Some dog parents like to let the food sit at room temperature for a few minutes or add a splash of warm water to enhance aroma and texture, but that's completely optional.
Gently Cooked Fresh Meals should be kept in the freezer until you're ready to use them — they stay good for up to 16 months frozen.
Move 2–3 days' worth of meals to the refrigerator to thaw. Once thawed, use within 3–4 days. Keep moving meals from freezer to fridge as needed until your next delivery arrives — think of it like meal prepping.
Kibble is a high-heat, highly processed food often made with rendered ingredients, artificial preservatives, and low-quality fillers. While many dogs survive on dry food, research increasingly links heavily processed diets to poorer health outcomes — including allergies, digestive issues, and reduced immune function.
Fresh, whole-food nutrition gives your dog a meaningful upgrade:
- Better nutrient bioavailability — whole-food ingredients are more digestible and usable than rendered meals.
- Gut microbiome support — real ingredients feed the beneficial bacteria that drive immunity, mood, coat, and energy.
- No fillers or synthetic additives — what goes in is what you can see and recognize.
At Get Joy we go one step further: every Freeze-Dried Raw Meal includes Belly Biotics™ — a built-in blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics — so every bowl actively supports gut health from the inside out.

We recommend transitioning gradually over 7–10 days to help your dog's digestive system adjust comfortably. Start by mixing a small amount of Get Joy with your dog's current food and slowly increase each day:
- Days 1–3: 25% Get Joy, 75% current food
- Days 4–6: 50% Get Joy, 50% current food
- Days 7–9: 75% Get Joy, 25% current food
- Day 10+: 100% Get Joy
A gradual transition helps your dog's gut microbiome adjust to the new nutrition, supporting smoother digestion and more consistent stools. If your dog has a particularly sensitive stomach, extend the transition a little longer. Consistency and patience usually lead to the best results.
