How much to feed

Daily amounts as a full meal. Every pack is a complete single meal, so there's no measuring. As a topper, use about half. Puppies and seniors may need an adjustment; your vet can fine-tune.

How it's made & where it's from

Hand-crafted in small batches in a USDA-certified USA kitchen. Each ingredient is gently cooked separately to its ideal temperature, then combined and frozen within hours. Keep frozen — good for 16 months. Thaw 2–3 days of meals in the fridge; once thawed, use within 3–4 days.

What to expect

Benefits you'll see and they'll feel.

What to expect on Fresh Meals: a little looser at first while their gut adjusts, then firmer poops, a softer coat by week two, a healthy weight settling in by week three, and a balanced gut from one month on.*

The first two weeks*
The poopening
01A little looser at first is normal.
Their gut is meeting real, gently cooked food. Sensitive tummy? Stretch the switch.
02Then firmer, smaller poops.
The kind you’d brag about at the park.
*Typical timeline reported by Get Joy dog companions. A little looser stool in the first week or two is normal while the gut adjusts. Every dog is different.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is fresh dog food delivered and stored?
Fresh Meals ship frozen in an insulated box, on your schedule. Keep packs in the freezer and move the next 2–3 days’ worth to the fridge.
How long do Fresh Meals last?
Frozen, they keep up to 16 months. Thawed packs keep 3–4 days in the fridge.
How much fresh food should my dog eat?
We size it for you: the plan sets the number of single-meal packs from your dog’s weight and whether you feed a full bowl or a topper, so there is no measuring.
Can I mix Fresh Meals with kibble?
Yes. Many dog companions serve Fresh as a topper on kibble, or add Freeze Dried Raw on top for crunch. Transition over about 7 days.
Which recipe is best for a sensitive stomach?
Turkey is the gentlest starting point: lean protein, brown rice and prebiotic fiber. All four recipes carry prebiotic fiber to support digestion.
Is fresh food better than kibble?
Fresh food is gently cooked, so nutrients stay closer to their natural state and most dogs digest it easily. Every recipe is complete and balanced for all life stages (AAFCO).
What if my dog doesn’t love it?

My picky eater is very happy with this food.

They send you what they want and charge you what they want. I’ve never received the same package sizes. I ordered 42 individual 110 oz packs and they sent me 16 300oz packs. Then you can’t reach anyone to ask how to ensure getting what I ordered. Dog loves the food but I’m switching to FARMERS DOG. At least I get the same size bag ever time.

E
Elaine R.

Not happy with the new limited sizes of bags which means I have to feed 1.20 bags per day- what a mess. Means setting up 5 days worth of food into Tupperware to make it make more sense and preplanned. Ugh. Also who has freezer space for 4 weeks worth of food at a time. I can fit very little less in my freezer. Not happy with the new plan. Food remains fine.

Get Joy has changed our dog's life! We started him on the diet at around 9 years old when he was starting to age. He wasn't loving his food. When we began, he just ate it immediately, and now he is 15 years old and going strong!! Cannot praise this company enough!!

L
Liz A.

My dog loves and thrives on the food. I just wish you hadn’t changed the package sizes. We used to get the smallest size and now it’s just messier and more measuring since that size has been eliminated. It’s probably saving some plastic, which is a good thing since my other issue is, I wish things were not packaged in plastic. Would love to see more eco-friendly packaging!

Bailey is really picky. I’ve tried a lot of other brands. He only likes Get Joy. Thank you.

New member of the clean plate club!

My very picky dog loves Get Joy! It used to be more difficult to get her to eat her food, she would just have a bite or two even after trying all sorts of toppers. Now, she will eat everything without needing us to beg!

One healthy Nucky

Our little Nucky loves the lamb. As soon as its place in his bowl he starts chowing down. His poops are always firm and never mushy. He appears healthy and contented. You guys have helped our little guys maintain sustainable health throughout his life. Thank you.

Been over a year

We had been getting Get Joy for over a year now. Customer service is always amazing! 2 out of my 3 dogs love every recipe. My youngest mini schnauzer has a problem with the carrot chunks so I pick them all out for her. I recommend this food to everyone!

My dog can be...

My dog can be picky about her food and how much she gets. Not only did I get the food from the past few years (and shared it with my friends) but they have also helped me cater to her appetite. As dogs get older they eat less and since I get the smallest food packs available I am able to split one in half and feed her.
I was impressed with the people I spoke with - not about how much you but but how they can help you.
